Become a Foster Family
Karnes County Humane Organization is a 501(c)(3) non-profit volunteer group looking for foster homes in the Karnes County area to help rescue dogs/puppies from high-kill shelters. The fostering commitment varies, from 1-2 weeks to long-term, with all supplies (food, kennels, medical care, etc) being provided by KCHO. A foster home provides a temporary safe place that frees up space at the municipal shelter so that euthanization for space is not required.
Some types of fostering opportunities we have include:

Having qualified foster families is critical to our success, allowing us to get dogs out of the local high-kill municipal shelters while they await transport and rescue.
